We are getting in new chips for our Manassas games. The new chips are made by NexGen, like our current chips, but they have a better feel and sound to them. They are also labeled with the denominations. These new chips look and feel even more like casino chips.
Many people do not realize that casino chips are much lighter than the chips we use. Most home use chips are 11.5 grams each, casino chips are always 10 grams. Our old chips are 12 grams, the new chips are 9 grams making them much closer to a casino weight. The main chip case we carry into the restaurant each evening holds 1,800 chips. The new chips can make this case 12 pounds lighter. When the league first started, we copied the colors in use by other leagues. It turns out that there are some standard colors used for poker chips, and these were not the standard colors. In the future we will be playing Texas Hold'em Poker with the "standard" colors, specifically what is defined under New Jersey (Atlantic City) law. In a casino greens are 25, blacks are 100, purples are 500, and orange are 1,000. We already have the orange chips in use; the black chips will be next. We will be adding the blacks this week and changing out most of the other colors.

Largest Poker Tournament in the Area
The Red, White, and Blue Poker League hosts the largest poker tournament in
the area. Our Addy's poker
location recently had 17 tables of poker players on a Wednesday
evening, with over 150 players in our 7:00 poker tournament. It is common for tournaments to have more than 100 players,
and we have never run out of seats - everyone who comes gets to play.
We have fun, and we play poker seriously. Our larger tournaments give
you more of a casino tournament feel. If you want to play at and win in
casinos, this is the best practice for you in the area. Not only are our
tournaments the largest in the area, but we continually get comments from
players that ours are the best run tournaments in the area.
It's free to play, and you can win prizes and cash.
And unlike a casino or a home game, it costs you nothing to lose.
