Poker Hands

Poker hands are ranked in the following order

Royal Flush Royal Flush Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten all the same suit. Technically, there is no such hand as a royal flush as it is really an ace high straight flush which is the highest possible straight flush.
Straight Flush Straight Flush Five cards, all the same suit, that are in order. The highest possible straight flush would be a royal straight flush.
Four of a Kind Four of a Kind Four cards all the same.  As in four aces, or four kings.
Full House Full House Five cards consisting of three of a kind and an additional pair. Three queens and two tens would be described as queens full of tens. If you have three of a kind after the flop, you have a better than 33% chance of making a full house or better.
Flush Flush Five cards all of the same suit. These do not have to be in sequence as long as they are all the same suit (hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs.) If after the flop, you have four parts of a flush, you have about a 35% chance of making the flush.
Straight Straight Five cards of mixed suits that connect to one another.  Like 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Or like 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King. If you have a four card open-ended straight after the flop, then you have a 31.5% chance of catching your card on either the turn or the river.
Three of a Kind Three of a Kind Three cards that are the same, such as three queens. Also known as a set. If you are dealt a pair pre-flop, you have a 12% chance of making a set on the flop.
Two Pair Two Pair Two pairs of cards that match. Such as a pair of aces and a pair of jacks.
Pair Pair A Pair is any two cards that match. The highest pair is a pair of aces. The odds of being dealt a pair pre-flop is 16:1. The odds that you actually get either a pair of Kings or pair of Aces pre-flop is 110:1. If you are not dealt a pair, you have a 32% chance you will pair at least one of your hole cards on the flop.
High Card High Card If no other hand is present, then your highest card is used. An Ace is the highest card, two is the lowest. The chance of your pre-flop high card being an ace is about 18%.
