Ronnie Wins, or Does He?

Someone named Ronnie Thomas won both tournaments on Sunday night. But there seems to be two different players with that name.

Ronnie Thomas won the second tournament at KC's American Grille on Sunday. Oddly enough, his son, Ronnie Thomas won the first tournament. Loren Lazear won second place in the first tournament, and Sue Hash won second place in the second tournament. This makes back to back wins for Ronnie Thomas as he also won last night's Saturday poker tournament.

The server in Atlanta could not tell the difference between the two Ronnie Thomases, so all the points for both of them went to the Dad. The points software matches winners table points, not by your Member Number, but by how you name is spelled. And Father and son both spell their names the same. So we fixed that by changing the name of the younger player to Ronnie Thomas III.

The old software used to "lose" the points from anyone who did not have a member number written down. For that matter, the points got lost if you wrote down the wrong member number. Now the winners table points are calculated by the spelling of your name. The attendance points use your member number to look up your name in the players database and combine that with the name people enter who did not write their member number.

It's all magic, and the magic failed for a few days. But with the new software your points from the winners table are on the website usually before you leave the building.
